Fernando Barrios Benavides
Fernando Barrios Benavides, a young artist from Madrid born in 1990, creates art objects - paintings, sculptures, and drawings - that combine facial elements with construction materials and bright colors, conveying the artist's emotional state and an abstract vision of the world.
Benavides explores primitive ways of thinking and incorporates elements from his surroundings to create unique compositions.
His paintings and sculptures are two sides of the same coin, a universal language in which Barrios Benavides transfers the wall to the canvas and the canvas to the wall: "If we took a fragment of an exterior wall imprinted with time and people and displayed it separately, we would find beauty in it."
This is the purpose of the layers the artist applies in his compositions, concealing his work, visible only during the creation process. All these traces of memories and experiences are preserved and will no longer be visible.
The viewer's task is to try to reconstruct the lost narrative in the intricate compositions and to acknowledge that there is a level of understanding that is intuitive, which precedes words.
