Liliane Danino is a painter and sculptor whose practice moves between figuration and abstraction. Self-taught, she develops her visual language through observation, the study of the human body and direct experimentation with materials. Literature, dance, travel and emotional experience inform her work.

In her compositions, faces and figures emerge, dissolve and reappear within layers of paint. Paper, fabric, handwritten fragments and textured surfaces help construct the image, giving it physical depth. Colour and texture convey tension, memory and movement. Her sculpture explores gesture, balance and the relationship between strength and lightness.

Over more than forty years of artistic practice, Danino has exhibited in France, Morocco, Israel, the United States, Canada and other countries. Her experience also includes teaching artistic techniques, creating sets, and working with make-up and special effects for film. Across these disciplines, she seeks to convey a living human presence through colour, gesture and matter.
