David Saborido
David Saborido is a Spanish painter whose work is devoted to the exploration of light and shadow. Since graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona in 2000, Saborido has dedicated himself to the endless exploration and development of his style, utilizing acrylic, oil, and translucent pigments on various surfaces such as wood, canvas, and paper.
His unique approach to art creation includes the use of unconventional tools. For example, an old hammer he employs to apply layers of pigment, creating an almost sculptural effect on his canvases. This process, which the artist calls “encounters with light,” emphasizes his pursuit of sensory perception and the conceptual depth of each work.
Saborido also places great importance on the sounds produced during his artistic process, which guide him in uncovering light in each piece. By recording these sounds, he uses them to further immerse himself in his work, transforming the creative process into not only a visual but also an auditory experience.
Recently, the artist has turned to experimenting with phosphorescent and fluorescent pigments, creating artworks that under ultraviolet light unveil new dimensions of light and color. These investigations have reinforced his commitment to further exploration and innovation in painting.
David Saborido's works are an invitation into a world where light, shadow, and color interact on a profound level, offering viewers not just a spectacle but an experience to live through.
