Born in the Malaga neighbourhood of La Trinidad, to a father who was a port worker and sentenced to death by the victors of the Spanish Civil War, Juan Béjar inherited from his mother the innocent eyes with which he still looks at the glow of reality. He will always remember his father as the impossible face of the man who fights and risks to be free.

There are artists who are inspired by the great masters of art and reproduce their influences. Others, however, transfer the impact of experience to their creations. Juan Béjar is closer to those who reveal their true selves, stripping them bare, than to those who drink from the fountains of the venerated and proclaim themselves their heirs. That is why we bring here some of the milestones that mark the territory of his childhood and his memory.
